| 09.24.2019 – Batman is celebrating 80 years and it was a yearlong anniversary that began with the release of Detective Comics issue no. 1000 early in March 2019. This was followed by a series of pocket events in other countries and the Philippines followed with its own promotion.
The past weekend was a series of launches to celebrate Batman the culminated with League Con by DC Heroes Café and it partners. By Saturday participating book store and comic shops celebrated with the Batman Day. |
This was not enough to add Batman 80 Years with SM Supermalls. It was filled with weekend events when it came to Batman. Even one of the local LEGO communities with Pinoy LUG was tapped by Ban Kee Bricks (surrent local distributors of the LEGO brand in the Philippines) to represent the brand that featured some of the interesting sets released under the DC Comics Super Heroes range as well as sets that appeared in the LEGO Batman the Movie.
If the Marvel at 80 Years was not enough to impress you with the range of sets released by the rival comics publishing company then you’ll probably be excited that Pinoy LUG (LEGO Users Group) has brought their “A” game to feature some of the interesting sets from the past years that also feature the 2019 DC Comics Super Heroes sets putting Batman in the forefront for this year.

There are two acrylic displays that feature the previous sets and the current ones at the first stop of the Batman 80 Years SM Supermall Tour and you’ll find the list of sets that have been on display below:

For those inquiring if the red Bat Symbol is from a set it is not, but a MOC (My Own Creation) by the member of Pinoy LUG.
The second display features the 2019 sets for the DC Comics Super Heroes range focusing on Batman as its main hero, while it also features other characters from the DC Universe like Shazam seen in one of the main diorama. But this year was set to celebrate the cape crusader with these new sets to add to your LEGO Batman theme.

While there are other collections displayed in a specific area that featured other characters in action figure form and diecast cars mostly produced by Mattel. There’s one tiny space that featured the Tumbler considered the Batmobile from the Dark Knight Trilogy film series.
More than Just a Celebration
Batman 80 Years doesn’t end with this event at SM City Fairview as the exhibit moves to other SM Malls as listed with dates below:

The Batman event also continues not only through pocket events and other gatherings like the BatCon happening on 19 October 2019 at the Movie Stars Café in Quezon City. But also the much-awaited release of The Joker Movie starringJoaquin Phoeniz as Arthur Fleck that is directed by Todd Philips.
If that’s not enough Batman-related for you DC Comics continues to publish some of the best graphic novels that you can pick–up at your local comic shops or book stores that certainly defining the 80 years of Batman something to celebrate up to end of 2019 and there’s more announcements just keep tuned-in!
