LEGO® Minifigures 28 | Frog Costume

There have been several LEGO® Costume Fan minifigures out there that really stand out, and in the past Minifigure Series, they have been one of the favourites in the rosters of characters that are either a genuine fruit or veg, but also a group of animals.

For the 28th series, LEGO® focused on a thematic look for its latest iteration of the series with animals in mind. It was released at the start of 2026, but other countries won’t have it until the first week of February of this year, just like in the Philippines.

But the interest in focusing on one theme depends on the interest of a group of communities, as some might not know that there have been groups that are solely focused on licensed characters from DC, Marvel, and Star Wars. The general interest in LEGO® Minifigures dates back to the first character from 1979.

There have been communities focused solely on well-known IP-licensed characters, which LEGO® has doubled down on producing quality minifigures with dual-molded parts and more paint application than a regular minifigure found in a LEGO® set.

For the LEGO® Minifigures range of characters, there have been a plethora of personalities that are not licensed but stand out, and having shifted to focus on more themes of a similar concept can be challenging to find those who would be interested in collecting them.

With that, the current series has set its twelve characters to the animals that were never produced previously. The theme of Animal Costume Fans has its brightly coloured characters, and one of them in this featured spotlight is the Frog Costume Fan, complete with its own accessories.

The packaging, of course, comes in a blind box that is easily accessed through its QR Code to find what character you want without the hassle of buying them randomly. It’s as colourful as the characters included in the front images, with hues of baby colours that define the theme.

The Frog Costume Fan has dual prints of facial expressions, one showing a big smile and the other showing “a blowing of bubbles.” To make the facial expression work, the minifigure comes with a can of bubbly soap, and two pieces of assembly for the handle and the round translucent shape that mimics the bubble being blown before leaving the handle, a clever idea of use with the choice of translucent colour.

Minifigures rarely come with extra pieces like this one, having an extra handle, and that bubble piece, as well as a flat round 1x1 tile for the Bubble bottle. The Frog Costume Fan has scale details on the back and the arms, and since it doesn’t have a tale it works its silhouette of a Frog Costume.

Compared to the previous Costume Fan featured in CMF Series 27 with the Hamster, the standard helmet shape has become part of its overall look, no matter what animal character is portraying. It’s a whimsical Frog Costume Fan appreciating the little things, like blowing bubbles, which is something worth telling its story.

Overall, the Frog Costume is great for storytelling through toy photography, and this one might be a favourite among the other 11 characters that came from the series.
