Mattel Brickshop | Reveals for PH Release

The Mattel Brickshop has been released in the US and select territories since May 1st, 2025.

Outside North America, it was already on retail in Australia and neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, except the Philippines.

For context, the last product that was distributed to the country was MOTU-themed Mega Construx sets.

MEGA has been struggling a bit with its identity for years. Its peak popularity was a decade ago with the Call of Duty range of sets and vehicles. The former Mega Bloks has been split into two products. Now, it is simply known as the MEGA Brand.

Enter Mattel Brickshop, which was teased in the fourth quarter of 2024 with a teaser and was officially launched the following year. Its focus is on its Hot Wheels brand, branching out to have its own buildable sets of popular licensed cars.

But this was not the first time Mattel has ‘experimented’ in making construction toys of their popular cars. Their first foray into producing them was under the MEGA Showcase Hot Wheels in early 2024, which was not well-received.

Fast-forward to this year, and there have been nine sets that have been released, with the latest model being the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with 793 pieces. It’s been in question whether the Mattel Brickshop would expand internationally to be marketed in other countries. Well, this morning, that question has been answered through a private event, and the price listing has been revealed.

Although the reveal has shown eight of the recently released buildable kits, there was no news on the exact street date for their release in the Philippines. But just in case you haven’t heard about the price points, here are the sets and how much they will be priced locally once they become available on retail:

  • Honda S2000 | ₱ 1,999.00 Pesos | $ 48.24 AUD | $ 34.32 USD
  • Audi Avant RS | ₱ 1,999.00 Pesos | $ 48.24 AUD | $ 34.32 USD
  • Honda Civic| ₱ 1,999.00 Pesos | $ 48.24 AUD | $ 34.32 USD
  • Custom 1968 Camaro | ₱ 1,999.00 Pesos | $ 48.24 AUD | $ 34.32 USD
  • Cadillac Project GtP Hypercar | ₱ 2,499.00 Pesos | $ 60.31 AUD | $ 42.90 USD
  • Corvette Camaro Sport | ₱ 4,999.00 Pesos | $ 120.65 AUD | $ 85.82 USD
  • Acura NSX | ₱ 4,999.00 Pesos | $ 120.65 AUD | $ 85.82 USD
  • Custom 1962 Chevy Pick-| ₱ 4,999.00 Pesos | $ 120.65 AUD | $ 85.82 USD

There is no information if the Maserati MC20 will also be available, but it will if given the demand for these sets at these local price points. Rest assured, Mattel is trying it again to produce its own construction toy brand through its Hot Wheels brand, which has a strong following in Southeast Asia with its die-cast products.

The question remains if it will be well-received, given that past MEGA products were pricey and the competition for construction toy brands in Asia is not restricted to legacy names like LEGO or MEGA, as the Chinese brands have slowly closed the gap when it comes to the quality of their plastic bricks, with affordable prices.
