COLLECTICON 2014: PinoyLUG Event Debut!

09.27.2014 – COLLECTICON on its 8th year continues to grow as a solid event not only for toy collectors, but to hobby collecting in general for the ever growing community. They have been successfully bringing back what is COLLECTICON first seen back in 1999.

This is their second year to held their event in the new venue at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City...

With that the even it reinvigorated a fresh look and community exhibitors that there are individual communities out there.

One community that seemed to be a surprise addition to Collecticon is the local group PinoyLUG or known as Pinoy LEGO Users Group, which consists of passionate LEGO builders that has been slowly making awareness that they are not as the usual group community solely focused on the hobby.

This is their second event which caters not only to the growing community that is into the construction/building toy hobby that focused in promoting LEGO. But also they are reaching out to communities that use these toys as a learning tool for the younger generation. The LEGO Group has also expanded in promoting their brand not only as a toy for builders or collectors, but also as tools.

Their other event which was held yesterday (Friday) was a "Family Day" theme at the LCIS at the Fort Bonifacio Global City, which is more of connecting with family and friends through LEGO building that definitely grows beyond the hobby for collectors and builder enthusiast.

Back at the Hall 3 of the Megatrade Hall at the 5th Level of SM Meganall there were three glass displays by the community. At first you won’t recognize the display due to that the glass displays provided by the organizers of Collecticon where Bankee Trading distributors of Gundam model kits. There were immediate reactions in the social media about the Gundam themed displays, but for those looking forward to see the community members of PinoyLUG your eagle eyes would immediately spot the recently released Tumbler from the Dark Knight Trilogy or the R2D2 set accompanied by the DeLorean Time Machine and the cast of Ghostbusters with the iconic Ecto-1 set.

There are other LEGO sets displayed at the right side of Hall 3 which features other local communities into G.I. Joe, Transformers, 1/6 scale actions figures and more. Collecticon will be at the Hall 3 until Sunday.

You can also check out the sellers in the area selling LEGO sets and Kre-O G.I. Joe sets never seen in local retail. Entrance fee to the event is PhP 100.00 pesos at Collecticon for more details visit their event page HERE.

No other details with regard to PinoyLUG being new and this is their first participation at Collecticon, but succeeding coverage will give you more details about them soon.
