LEGO® Clearance Sale | Everything Must Go

04.15.2019 – LEGO® clearance sales are a rare thing in other countries as whenever they have a sale it is through store promotions randomly announced and that also includes supermarkets.

But in the Philippines when you talk about these types of major promos it has become sort of a habit that the only reason why they are going in clearance is for new stock to come in.Of course, if you’re in the Philippines this is the usual strategy and consumers mostly the collector’s mind they’ve marked the dates when you talk about clearance sales.

It’s like annual event that people will hope that their favorite set will have a lower priced value. It is evident that it is unnatural for the local distributor to have this in the past five month.

LAJ Marketing, the Philippines sole local distributor has been running clearance sales at their stores in Hobbes & Landes, Build City, and all of the LEGO Certified Stores as far back in the last quarter of 2018. Not counting the major department store like Rustan’s or toy stores like Toy Kingdom and Toys R’ us that had some selected sets that also went on having 40-50% discounts.

This is where the Clearance Sale located on the second level.

But to announce major clearance sale up to 80% discounts that means everything must go and it’s no longer a rumor that LAJ Marketing is no longer the Philippine distributor for LEGO® as there were no public announcements unlike in other countries like Australia, which have their own satellite store and warehouse that is directly owned by LEGO® for the reason price points for the sets in retail stores are different like from Target comparing it to Big W.

This bit of news has been word of mouth, but no specific reasons why although there have been contradicting stories. But there will be official announcement following the launch of LEGO® under its new Philippine distributor sometime this April or early in May as all these old sets dating from 2018 to as old as 2015 is only clearance paving the way to overdue late products that were already released in other markets since early December 2018. What you see in the last day of this clearance at the warehouse of LAJ Marketing are old sets that were pulled out from retail stores that are 60% off and what they claim to be 80% off on the poster and announcements are the damaged boxes.

There were sets unsold as the warehouse sale was about to close up shop by 6PM. The staff assigned has mentioned that there will be more clearance sales in the coming weeks even once Ban Kee takes over the retail market as its main distributor. The older sets under LAJ Marketing will still be available but it will probably be in the same warehouse location.

For more about when the next warehouse clearance will happen, check out the Brick Philippines social media page via Facebook as this is where LAJ Marketing announces the dates.
