BTC Event | The Brick Exhibit

LEGO® has the most diverse themes from Classic Space to the recent DreamZzz. Local events that cater to almost everyone is a rare gathering of hobbyists that seem impossible, but Brick Traders’ Club (BTC) has been consistent with their events since the start of the year.

Their monthly event of local gatherings promoting the LEGO® brand and its growing community continue to invite new fans to the hobby. From kids to parents and every demographic in between and that makes these are some of the must-go places.

For this month, The Brick Exhibit is the main attraction promoting each participating LEGO® AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO®) features some of the rare collections that they have acquired over the years. The interest is random though you will find it inspiring to find some of the rarest pieces ever produced by the Danish brand on display along with different themes of past and present.

Even some of the LEGO® brand’s unpopular themes like Bellville which was discontinued after 2008 have some of its characters on display sharing space with the classic Bionicle that are also discontinued and can only be seen in this event.

There’s a long row of three levels of glass display and each features a personal collection for participating AFOLs in this area that can be seen as a preview to another upcoming event from the same organizers of this event.

Rows of Creativity

Some of the displays featured are from the owner’s creativity to mix and match their collections to stand out. Besides the selling area as its main draw, it is the display that features some of the collections that show there are passionate fans in this community who put their time into creating their collection from hard-to-find LEGO® sets.

The reception among the walk-ins who know about the LEGO® brand growing up is sometimes surprised and unaware some minifigures or sets exist. The licensed ones get some appreciation from parents and kids who have grown up with some of these themes that are no longer sold in the market.

Classic Space & Sesame Street Standout Represented

Of course, there is nothing more impressive than seeing LEGO® Classic Space represented by three collectors, where their display is spread out among the rows of brightly lit glass displays. It is rare to find this theme as it was discontinued back in 1989 and interest in this theme has certainly picked up in the last five years.

Also, a shout-out and special mention to a Sesame Street fan as there are two similar displays. But this one stood out with the presentation having included the tiny little space set that was only available as GWP (Gift with Purchase) from the LEGO® official website, which was also the same designer who submitted the Sesame Street to become an Ideas set.

Next Big Event: BrickCon

The next big thing has been announced during this event and the return of BrickCon after almost four years of absence from the event schedule will certainly bring more than just glass displays as the last one featured a diorama years ago.

BrickCon will certainly bring in new fans getting into the LEGO® brand happening in a two-day event from 25-26 November 2023 at the same venue at the second level in Ayala Mall in Circuit Makati!
