KRE-O ® Star Trek Series 2: Gul Dukat!

11.12.2015 – The last wave for KRE-O’s Star Trek blind-bagged assortment features popular characters from the television series and not based on the JJ Abrams' films. This second wave also includes underrated secondary characters too.

For those not familiar with the television series from the late 1980s beginning with The Next Generation spawned three more spin offs and filled with interesting characters and one of them is from Deep Space Nine’s Gul Dukat!

You’ve probably seen Star Trek: The Next Generation on television and still remembers Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard or JJ Abrams revival of the classic television series in the movies featuring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk. Probably the original Captain Kirk portrayed by William Shatner.

But you may not remember the spin-off television series that followed TNG known as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It’s a series not feature a starship or even a crew but a space station that the Federation has operated. It features a different cast of characters but would be known with its own cult following. It’s not intended to mainstream Trek fans but once you’ve seen it you’ll understand how dark and complex this series has become getting numerous attention to those who really appreciate the show.

One of the key characters is the series is Gul Dukat a Cardassian who was formerly assigned to then known Terok Nor currently Deep Space Nine. The character is portrayed Marc Alaimo and his first name is not ‘Gul’ but rather a rank in Cardassia. Dukat is a complex character but he is the main protagonist in the series to Captain Benjamin Sisko the commanding officer assigned to DS9.

DS9 has strong themes that featured strongly on religion and war that ran for seven seasons so it’s challenging to explain it to non-Trekkies who have seen the popular series like the original or TNG.

Cardassian Kreon

Gul Dukat is part of the blind-bagged second wave produced by KRE-O, which eventually the last Star Trek related theme. The pack that includes Gul Dukat has 7 pieces that includes the stud stand.

The elements that comes with Gul Dukat is the Cardassian blaster exclusive fof this minifigure and a new hairpiece that also have the chest piece what makes the character look distinct based from its character from Deep Space Nine.

Dukat’s Villainy

As memorable as Deep Space Nine the character Gul Dukat only appeared in Deep Space Nine and not to any other Star Trek TV series during its original run. The minifigure stands out as the lone Cardassian for any DS9 fan who followed the show.

Overall design for Gul Dukat was a hit and miss though not entirely appear like a Cardassian due to the art work done on its face. But IT IS the Dukat everyone has hated throughout the course of the series that made this a memorable character to have in the small group of Star Trek Kreons.

Gul Dukat” is part of the wave 2 characters for Star Trek included in the blind bag for Kre-O produced by Hasbro and OxFord Toys. This was sold on clearance at Toys R' Us store in the Philippines for PhP 100.00 pesos each.
