Hybrid World Adelaide | SBLUG Interactive Exhibit

07.23.2018 – On its second year Hybrid World Adelaide continues to evolve now held at the heart of the city. With emerging technologies how can a Danish toy company continue to be relevant? Simple, a community like SBLUG share their passion for LEGO keeping these plastic bricks alive.

This is the first time Southern Bricks LEGO® Users Group (SBLUG) participates in this year’s Hybrid World Adelaide with interactive activities and interesting displays. If Brickalaide and Brick Barossa was not enough this adds another event for you.

SBLUG continue to celebrate in promoting creativity through LEGO bricks and for a state territory of South Australia you’ll not going to miss out on the activities they’ve lined up for this year. Hybrid World Adelaide is one event that put their best LEGO builders and fans to share their passion that also inspires young minds to pick up a set and enhance their creativity.

There are a lot of stuff happening in the area where SBLUG was situated that some almost forgot that there was a Brickstameet happening on the same day at Tonsley, the former venue of the first Hybrid World Adelaide last year. But for those who visited the venue here are some interesting activities that was happening of the very last day of Hybrid World Adelaide…

A Football for Technics

If you’re into Footnball or in other countries known as Soccer this might be a bit of interesting to know that the radio controlled Technic sets are in your control to play the game with others. It seems Grandpa there is enjoying himself with some awesome manoeuvres with his little tank threaded machine.

You got to appreciate that LEGO appeals to everyone from the toddler to that old chap that has thinning grey hair. The famous Danish construction toy is not limited to just collectors and unlike the crowd in South Australia it does not confirm to just one age group and its interesting to know LEGO appeals to everyone.

Connor’s Interesting Bricks

Connor is a talented South Australian-based young lad who makes custom design LEGO builds that he had them on display during the three-day Hybrid World Adelaide. He has been participating in previous events that SBLUG has organized and his creations continue to evolve and improve its design.

His creations have won awards for a fourteen year old he continues to hone his skills and imagination. You can’t miss Connor when there’s another event and if you want to see some of his previous build visit his site at: ConnorsBricks.com

Classic Space Monorail by Jason Wandel

For someone who appreciates the LEGO Space theme Jason certainly made a splash during the weekend at Hybrid World Adelaide. You can’t beat nostalgia when you talk about the classic space theme. The Space Monorail is an eye catcher for those who grew up dreaming of this set that is already discontinued.

They are really hard to come by if you plan to make one for your own. There’s nothing like it and just like its proud owner its something worth reminiscing to those glory days of the then discontinued LEGO Space theme.

Wipe Out with Luke Saurus and his other Creations

If you have heard and played the game called “Wipe Out: then you might be familiar with this classic vehicle. It will certainly wipe you out that Luke put this together and voila an instant nostalgia piece based from the classic Playstation game.

Besides that eye catching vehicle from the original game console Luke has other build you might find interesting as one of the guys who put together this massive Medieval theme in last April’s Brickalaide its certainly noteworthy that Luke continue to crate some of the impressive build that you’ll find on display at SBLUG participated events in South Australia.

Massive Mecha Builds by Aaron Monaghan

When you think there’s already enough robots in LEGO guess again. Aaron’s builds will definitely give you something to think about. From the simplest design to the biggest robot ever displayed at the recent Hybrid World Adelaide is something to look at and pick his brain for concepts that might some day become a LEGO Ideas set.

Ben Teoh’s Micro Mechs

Sometimes small things can be cool at the same time cute. Ben Teoh is not only a talented photographer but also builds his MOCs the way he imagines them. These little mechs that were on display during Hybrid World Adelaide was impressive enough for some to notice it due to its diminutive size.

But accompanied them is an existing Hulkbuster Iron Man set not only for size comparison but to call out your attention if you have not looked. Imagine replacing the Mighty Micros with mechs for each Superheroes character would be an interesting perspective and that is something maybe LEGO would look into it.

Building down the Weekend

Overall the Hybrid World Adelaide is a technology of the past, present and future that define what South Australia has to offer. LEGO is a construction toy from the past that keeps making headway with how technology can modernize a simple plastic brick and SBLUG is there to make it happen with these builds and interactive activities that will be something for the kids not only to enjoy but also to learn.

SBLUG is proud about this event to reach out to all of walks of life who appreciate the little things what LEGO has to offer to a community that interacts the way the bricks forms into something from their imaginative creators and they really simply fit to this event that they will be a constant present for the next Hybrid World Adelaide.
