In the Philippines, a season of summer means there’s a lot of events happening and one of them just previously wrapped up that was quite a success for the local car show events.
Meanwhile, a few days ago as the local car events are happening Melbourne was gearing up for the return of the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix, and to celebrate the event LEGO® unveiled the McLaren Formula 1 Race Car. |
This is not just being hyped as a 1:1 scale, unlike the one that went around in a local newspaper about an Italian car also built by LEGO® that they said it was scaled to the real life car which was not. This one is life-sized and it was way better in real life!
The McLaren F1 cars was based on the LEGO® Technic set (42141), and this one was not imported. But this was built and put together under the watchful eye of Ryan “Brickman” McNaught’s team. This beast of a brick is comprised of 288,315 LEGO® blocks, and took them 1893 man-hours to build.
This was a very impressive build put together, and based on these images that was shares it was way even cooler in person. It also made it to international news and not just some local newspaper that definitely is a work of art.
There’s also a time-lapse behind-the-scenes construction and you can really see that everything is made out of LEGO® bricks including the wheels compared to the ones being put to exhibit al almost a decade ago and it really is impressive.
If you’re at the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix over the past weekend you’re surely not going to miss this being on display at the LEGO® Technic tent in the pavilion area. Additional images truly show how this creation is really the 1:1 scale, which is based on the LEGO® Technic set that was released this year.
Special acknowledgments to Andrew Krieger for all these images who was there during the event this past weekend.
LEGO® Technic McLaren Formula Formula 1 (42141) is now available in select retail stores and LEGO® Certified Stores, which retails for ₱ 11,999 Pesos ($ 321.06 AUD | $ 229.40 USD) distributed in the Philippines by Ban Kee Trading.
