LEGO® Minifigures 24 | T-Rex Costume Fan

The LEGO® Collectible Minifigures Series 24 has finally arrived in Philippine retail and has been a sought-after series with interesting and unique characters with each release, and this current one has a number of favourites.

For this featured character gets a deep dive into being one of those favourite characters who make up characters featured on CMF Series 24. The T-Rex Costume Fan is certainly a must-have character in your collection and it might be the best too.

With each release of the Collectible Minifigures one does wonder what satisfaction you get in this mystery blind bag. For some, another routine is to complete all 12 minifigures that grows in each of their collection. There are others who just have the must-have favourites that don’t need to have them all.

Not all retail stores in Metro Manila that carry the CMF series, and mostly, they are exclusively carried by one retail store for the reason the limited quantities that have been allocated in some have become sold out or there are individuals who want to get two of each of the same character.

There are certain characters that can be an ‘army-builder’ meaning a similar character can be put together as a number of similar-looking characters just like a troop, and one example is the Snow Guardian from CMF Series 22, which is very difficult to find nowadays that command value.

Dinosaur Fandom

Since the introduction of the live-action film, Jurassic Park in the early 1990s that kids all over the world like dinosaurs. There’s no bigger fan-favourite than the Tyrannosaurus Rex, which was the main dinosaur that was lumbering near the end of the original Jurassic Park film that continues to make cameos in the recent Jurassic World franchise and has been produced in a LEGO set.

The T-Rex Costume Fan takes the “Fandom” in the world of Minifigures as part of CMF Series 24. It stands out on its own being already one of the must-have characters in this series. But this is not the first time a costume fan has dressed up as a giant lizard. The credit goes back to CMF Series 5 (8805) with the Lizard Man.

It was never implied that the Lizard Man was dressing up as Godzilla to avoid violating copyright laws, and LEGO made it into a guy wearing just that. With the T-Rex Costume Fan, it is obviously shown that there are fans wearing dinosaur costumes as seen being shared on social media that some of them can be seen being worn in the real world.

Of course, this minifigure is not just a costume worn by a T-Rex-adoring fan, and the design and print certainly went down to the details all the way to the back of the figure. Unfortunately, there was no accessory that came with this one, but an extra tail that’s made with gummy plastic is the consolation to having this character.

Jurassic Realism Design

The look and design may not find you excited, but the little subtle details of this minifig are surely a good one. The print on the helmet alone looks to be the selling part of the character, and if you own the LEGO T-Rex figure it sure takes inspiration to have this molded and designed for added realism.

This guy surely has an expressive face to show the excitement of wearing the costume. The secondary facial expression is a big grin, which this head can be reused in some other minifigure for those who are into making their characters. But this one may not have the accessories, but the level of detail and personality shows a true fan.

Not-so Terrible Lizard

Prior to the release of CMF 24, there have been third-party minifigure costumes that were produced by an independent company that was sold through crowdfunding. If you’re not familiar with Crazy Bricks, then you should check out their impressive creations called "Dino Dudes" that feature third-party add-ons for your Minifigures.

No need to have both compared, but it sure gives you an idea of how there are many AFOLs who are hoping that LEGO makes an official T-Rex costume, and that’s what they are getting with this minifigure that will certainly be a challenge to find in the retail wild, which in some places is nowhere to be found.

At the end of the day, this T-Rex Costume Fan is just one of the popular characters from CMF 24, and there are eleven other characters to look forward to collecting. This minifig surely stands out because the dinosaurs are beloved creatures, and it parallels real life seeing one wear it in conventions or fan gatherings.
