LEGO® Minifigures 24 | Orc

The Collectible Minifigures Series introduced the twenty-fourth edition of random characters by LEGO® in their bestselling range of characters that are not licensed, but have established themselves as a popular set of collectible “minifigs.”

They immediately get sold out in each release and casual collectors are having a bit of a challenge tracking down their “favourite character” in each release, some of them are only sold in retail in very limited quantities ending up in third-party markets.

With each set of Minifigures, it becomes a challenge getting the ‘must have’ on a retail price that some are forking extra funds for just one figure alone. The latest series with its twenty-fourth installment brings a diversity of original characters that are inspired by popular culture or some existing mythology.

It’s not difficult to get engaged in finding interest in collecting these minifigs it just happens that someone aside from you is into the same characters you’re looking for. But there are some who just got a second wind of a particular character that some just ride the hype to be in the same conversation with what you’re looking for.

In the most recent LEGO ® CMF series, there are 12 new characters, and previously the spotlight has shined on the T-Rex Costume Fan, which is also one of the sought-after characters from this series. This time, a deep dive into another potential ‘Army Builder’ with a brutish green-skinned Orc Warrior!

Goblins and Orcs

There are similarities between an Orc and a Goblin, they are green-skinned monsters that are the opposite of elves. They are the two of the same creature as Orcs are described to be a big, violent, aggressive, and ugly-looking race of monsters that have become a fixture of fantasy novels and other forms of media.

In other literature, like The Hobbit back in 1937, the term “Orc” was used, which preferred the term "goblins". The word "Orc" was later used ubiquitously in The Lord of the Rings. It has become part of fantasy fiction from comicbooks, novels, films animation, videogames, and even tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons these creatures have become part of the overall stories produced.

Monster Warrior

The Orc in CMF 24 is the modern take on the creature, but this is not the first time LEGO ® has ever produced Orcs as part of a theme. This goes back to 2008 when the Castle theme introduce them as the creatures the knights are in conflict with that they also produced the first ever ‘Big Figure’ featuring an Orc wearing a battle helmet and it is armed to beat up all the Minifigure Knights that face it.

This was discontinued after the Caste theme ended, and the “Big Figure” concept was rarely used save for producing DC and Marvel characters like Bane and Hulk in this scale to match how their size compared to the ‘regular’ minifigs. The Castle theme was always a fan favourite and it will appear in another theme set (Creator 3 in 1), but the ‘Big Figure’ Orc was no longer produced.

Until the announcement of the roster of characters for CMF 24 was revealed, and this included an Orc warrior with a new “chin” piece to stand out from the other Minifigures that came with the series. It was good enough that it has its signature weapons that include the shield featuring the tribe design that also appeared in the old sets from 2008, and a cloth cape that has his hair tied up in a ponytail.

The potential ‘Army Build’ in this character is definitely an obvious look to it as being the one being sold out. But one is enough to say it is an Orc warrior ready to strike terror on the previously released knights in your collection.

Overall, one of the ‘Must Have’ Minifigures to just get from the CMF 24 series for its significance in the mythology from the LEGO ® Castle-themed sets. It can be quite expensive to build an army using this character. But one is enough to look imposing with the nostalgic factor that never gets lost in this latest iteration of an Orc

At the end of the day, this T-Rex Costume Fan is just one of the popular characters from CMF 24, and there are eleven other characters to look forward to collecting. This minifig surely stands out because the dinosaurs are beloved creatures, and it parallels real life seeing one wear it in conventions or fan gatherings.
