The Adventure Team is included in the blindbag KRE-O G.I. Joe series as the rare member in the bunch. Wave 1 featured the Adventure Team Commander and when Wave 2 was released they included The Land Adventurer.
Just like it original namesake the Adventure Team is unique from The Real American Heroes theme. Some members of the team features “realistic hair” flocking a technique first developed by Hasbro's UK licensee, Palitoy, allowed for a significant shift in identity for the toyline.
The same goes with the micro figure form of the Land Adventurer minus the Kung-Fu Grip” and “Eagle Eyes”, but the elements from the classic figure is there that definitely stand out from the present G.I. Joe toyline which is unique in KRE-O.
Legendary Adventurer
The Adventure Team doesn’t combat ecological disasters and wild animals, rather than human beings unlike The Real American Hero team, which having Cobra as an enemy. For this the series shifts in sensibilities among parents in the US, notably caused by the Vietnam War, caused a shift from action/military toys to more politically sensitive ones.
These original figures and sets were usually dressed for adventures in the jungles, deserts, mountains, and oceans. This explains why the camouflage pattern for The Land Adventurer is different from the modern military theme.
He’s highly skilled survival techniques driving his signature ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) has studied Archaeology and Egyptology as detailed in his 2010 filecard when the G.I. Joe Collectors Club released a “3 ¾’ scale figure of this version.
Cool like a KREON
The micro figure version of the Land Adventurer doesn’t come with his signature ATV, but he does have one pistol and a 1x1 plate that supposed to have a sticker label that was not included when this pack was opened.
This plate was supposed to have an image of the Adventure Team, but since the sticker label is missing it’s just a green plate he’s holding. What’s so unique about this micro figure is the signature “realistic hair” flocking. Probably this is a first building toy to have such concept that the actual figure released in the 1970s has.
Land Adventurer comes also with the KRE-O block stand and still looks cool like a cat with those details based from the classic 12 inch figure. Unlike the 1/18 scale club exclusive that was produced in 2010 this one certainly got the flocking hair. Unfortunately it did not include his beard like all the Adventure Team members to have that flocking, but this figure is cool not to have in your team.
“Land Adventurer” is part of the wave 2 characters included in the blind bag for Kre-O produced by Hasbro and OxFord Toys. This was acquired during COLLECTICON 2014 where a seller has been importing KRE-O G.I. Joe sold in their specialty store.
