SBLUG Post Meet-Up | October 2017

10.09.2017 – Catching up with SBLUG (Southern Bricks LEGO® Users Group) meet-up at HAMRA Centre Library on a sunny Sunday afternoon is like not seeing a family in a in a while since the last gathering sometime in July 2017 was like so long ago.

For this month the usual activity with the Iron Builder, Show and Tell, and the theme has something to do with building modular trees as outside the library beside its park have several greens have grown already as summer might lurk around the corner.

But the spring time is just perfect with the weather even with the cheerful smiles inside. Though it’s a bit late and less than an hour before the gathering ends there were several people still having a nice chat and setting plans for the next few months. It’s been quite a sight seeing how the activities for the monthly meet-up have expanded.

Late for the Par-TREE

The main activity for the meet-up is all about building modular trees as organised by Kas Modra and its something new for the community who rarely build nature itself. It was a fun build that produced this artificial rainforest, which could be one the community’s future installations for an exhibit or theme.

David's 2017 UCS Millenium Falcon boxed and ready to take home.

David’s Millennium Story

David is known in the community as one of the members who have collected almost all the UCS (Ultimate Collector Series) sets, which includes the largest yet that has been discussed and talked about in the past weeks-- Millennium Falcon!

The set-up display was disassembled already, but David shares some of the images on his phone how he have it put together and how he puts them in storage. He proudly shares the story how he acquired it and kept monitoring the official release. Clearly that David’s a passionate LEGO® builder and fan of some sets that has been released.

Iron Build, Share and Inspire

A monthly gathering won’t be without the regular activities like the Iron-Build and the kids building area using the green LUG Bulk Bricks. Besides that there are also sellers and mini-swap meets for other member transactions.

Overall this gathering is another successful event for SBLUG members and new faces that got the chance to attend on a find weather afternoon. The next event happening will be the Brickstameet Photo Walk with Narelle Robinson with Harald Christ at the Botanical Gardens on October 29th. There will be more details for that and news will be posted soon.
