| 11.12.2018 – Basketball has been a prominent sport in the Philippines despite most Filipinos lack the height to make up that requirement. It’s not a seasonal sport like Baseball or Footy, but that’s what you see in the streets every day. Filipinos enjoy playing and watching the game more popular than boxing, billiards or even soccer.

LEGO used to have a partnership in the early 2000s and now third party construction toys have their license but how thy stack up is the real question.
Recently, there have been NBA related construction toys from C3 Toys that also had the rights to produce building toys for WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) that includes mystery minifigures. But the NBA series of were never sold in the Philippines only the wrestling sets tie-up with WWE that slowly disappeared from the toy isle through clearance sale as they’re not that popular.
But with the recent Toy Kingdom Warehouse Sale in SM Megamall there where packs of mystery figures from the NBA series that went on sale straight to clearance and another one from OYO Sports, an unknown company that NBA licensed their rights to produce another set of mystery figures based from their all-star athletes which is more famous with Baseball that started their popularity.
Brick Branded NBA
The OYO Sports minifigures are the same size as the LEGO figures in comparison with the Gary Payton minifig from previous tie-up with the brand some years ago. The only grip with the OYO Minifig is the bend elbows and clutch power to connect the pieces is quite subpar in comparison the well adored brand from Denmark. With C3 it is a different product as probably the true predecessor to take over from LEGO to have licensed NBA buildable sets and figures.
Although not as perfect with quality of some of the figures when you open them they’re solid in comparison to the OYOS Sports, but none of them are as perfect as the NBA sets which produced as a subtheme from LEGO Sports from 2003-2005.
C3 Toys Versus OYO Sports
But they are an interesting pieces as they are an official product that NBA has licenses their teams, names, and likeness despite the athletes does really look like them accurately. The novelty here is the NBA itself since other construction toy company picked up the license that updated the players with their current teams and most of the ones produced by LEGO has some of the athletes retired from the NBA that new faces has taken over.
Overall they are an interesting line based from the NBA but if you have only a few options to choose from C3 Toys has better representation of the brand than OYO Sports despite having more scale with the previous LEGO sets and has more articulation. But the product suffers from quality that LEGO has better way in producing their minifigures.
