LEGO® Classic | Blue Creativity Box

06.04.2019 – LEGO® produce many themes for their brand that is allocated to age groups as being established early in the 1970s. Over the years the themes evolved with some being discontinued and there are some had re-introduced into different product keeping it relevant and fresh.

Internationally, LEGO® has become a global powerhouse but still keeps their roots firmly to the ground that they keep the legacy through the their in-house theme which brings you to the LEGO® Classic that wants you to build through your imagination.

2018 marks the 60th anniversary of the LEGO® Brick as they produced a line of the Classic themed to celebrating that foundation of what made the brand popular. The LEGO® Basic is part of that overall theme and they produced these small boxes for those who just want to exercise their imagination through building.

There were four of these LEGO® Classic knows as the Basic set in the current incarnation of the colors that is now being used. Different shades of Blue, Red, Yellow, and Green packed in each individual box gives you enough ideas to put together random things from your imagination.

Blue Creativity Box

The theme name says it all about all shades of blue in a small box gives you tons of ideas to make out from this Basic set. Back in the day LEGO® only produce one shade of Blue, but today there’s two to four shades of blue that are now a bigger palette to choose from in making your creation.

Introduced in 2017 with three other creativity boxes it has 78 unique pieces and elements that were part of this set. Besides some shades of blue it has also other colors such as Black, White, Grey, Orange, Yellow, and Transparent. It is solely produced for the basic LEGO® builder or just casually wants to start with the interest in building random things out of the basic blue color pallete.

Level 3: Blue Train

In the instruction manual it indicates the Build Level for each creation for this set. The most obvious creation is the Train that is one of the primary builds you see in front of the box. It also shows the skill level for young kids to try it, but often usually for first timers they should start with the most basic build.

The Blue train of course is the most detailed among the primary creations that allows you to put together and mostly the common vehicle that you see being built in other Classic sets in the past. It gives you an idea to use the round elements that becomes the contours and shape of an old school locomotive.

Level 2: Cute Whale

Among the three primary build this one was a stand out next to the Blue Train. Because this set also packed a couple round 1x1 flat pieces with prints of eye balls either “sleeping” or expressively awake and since this set is entirely themed to the color blue it is one of the simple builds the designer had put together to match up.

The idea of having the Cute Whale in this set is part why the theme is centered on this color pallete. The translucent blue parts use as element of water is indigenous like the Whale spewing gallons of water on the creature’s spout.

Level 1: Cozy House

Lastly, the Cozy Blue House certainly was a nice primary build and the most basic as the window element form the basis for its aesthetics. This set is not entirely 100% all shades of blue as includes other colors like Bright Orange and Bright Yellow.

In the last page of the Instruction manual it also shows how to combine some other color elements from the other sets that expands further the creativity for this set. If you have all four Basic sets it’s like having all the Infinity Stones, but all you need is just the four colors in this theme.

Overall it is a fun billed for the casual individual for those who really want to build and not just collect the sets. It is remarkably cheap (Depends in other Countries) for a price point, but not in the Philippines or some parts of Southeast Asia.

This set from 2017 has been on clearance in the Philippines due to the change of local Distributor. It is originally retailed at PHP 349.75 Philippine Peso ($ 6.84 USD | $9.74**) that was sold Clearance Sale at PHP 210.00 Philippine Pesos ($ 4.11 USD | $ 5.85 AUD**) at Rustan’s where this was acquired.
