LEGO® TMNT 30271: Mikey's Mini-Shellraiser!

11.07.2015 – There has been popular licensed themes from LEGO®, but most of them are just one-offs meaning they don’t last more than three years unlike Star Wars that has been around since the late 1990s.

But most of these one-offs are unique that makes them more invitingly collectible such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which has been discontinued by LEGO®. Their competitor just recently announced that they’ll now produce their version of the TMNT line, but before they do here is Mikey’s Mini-Shellraiser!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is one of the iconic series based on a popular comic book by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird that was first introduced in the mid-1980 and had a popular animated series that launch them to the mainstream scene.

LEGO® produced their version of the TMNT from 2013, but also as early as December 2012 based from the latest computer-animated series on Nickelodeon. This is not the first time the TMNT was adapted into a building toy.

Their competitor Mega Bloks was the first to bring the turtles in block from as far back in early 2000s and has recently re-acquired the rights to produce it in 2016 hence the discontinue of the theme by LEGO®.

Mini-Shellraiser

The Shellraiser is the turtles’ mode of transportation in the current animated series aired on Nickelodeon. It’s actually an old subway train that they converted into what everyone is seeing in the TV series. There’s an actual set (79104) that was produced that can be ridden by the minifigures that’s included.

This mini-shellraiser is inspired by that particular set, but this one is Michelangelo’s radio controlled toy. This polybag set was release sometime in 2013 in selected US stores that contains 47 pieces that includes Michelangelo minifigure.

Party Turtle

In the previous iterations and variations of Michelangelo from the animated series the constant element of this turtle is about having fun. The facial expression on this minifigure certainly knows how to have a good time.

The minifigure itself is unique to this series due to the mould that was used to most of the TMNT characters can’t be found in other licensed themes with LEGO®. So every set in the TMNT series is unique and you’ll never find them like the head mould and how the characters where recreated as a LEGO® minifigure.

Booyakasha!

This polybag could be the best set to have if you’re Michelangelo is your favorite turtle and you can find this same minifigure witthe same facial expression in the Shellraiser set but with his signature nun-chuk accessories.

Overall it’s a simple set that mostly composed of bright yellow elements and a cool Michelangelo minifigure that’s enjoying his downtime playing with the Mini-Shellraiser even the action figure version of this turtle agrees.

“Mikey's Mini-Shellraiser” set 30271 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme can be acquired at selected check-out counter at selected stores in the US.
