Speed Champions | Ford Fiesta WRC

05.24.2018 – LEGO® continues to expand their license themes not only from properties based from comic books, movies, television, animation, videogames and other things from popular culture but also real world car brands. This is where the Speed Champions have introduced motorsport.

The Speed Champions theme has been around since 2015, but most of the cars introduced are from the racing circuit. This will be probably the first to introduced cars from the World Rally Championship with the Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC.

For anyone who appreciates the cars produced by Ford you’ll probably like this latest car or the Speed Champions theme. The Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC is probably the first non-racing circuit based car that possibly LEGO® might expand with other branded cars that are from the World Rally Championship.

The Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC is based from the 2017 Ford Fiesta super mini 3-door hatchback that competes at the World Rally Championship. Its initial debut in 2017 it took five wins in its first season and went on to win the World Championships for Drivers and Co-Drivers, their fifth titles. M-Sport won the World Championship for Manufacturers, their first title since 2017.

Speed Champ Build

Designated set number 75885 following the classic 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback that was also released of the same year brings the Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC. This set contains 203 pieces that includes a M-Sport Rally Driver and wrench accessory. Packaging like the other Speed Champions sets had quality graphics, but the art not believable for how this rally car is depicted.

Taking out the four bags, instruction manual, base chassis and sticker sheet is what’s contained in the well packaged box. The only concern here is how the sticker sheets were put together with the other contents. There were previous complaints about how LEGO® has packaged some Speed Champions sets regarding the sticker sheets being improperly put inside the box that some are terribly folded.

Rally Fiesta Car

Putting together this set was a breeze for the newbies, who has come to appreciate this set. A quick to follow instructions guide will only take you 30 to 45 minutes to have this built and that included applying the stickers to the right pieces. Entirely this set contains mostly blue, black and white color accents.

Though its not entirely accurately appears like the Ford Fiesta WRC its enough that LEGO® has brought this souped-up hatchback in brick form. You also build the interchangeable hood with spotlight-style elements to play out low-light/nighttime racing scenarios as one of the authentic details for this set.

Off-Road Machine

What makes this truly authentic is the one way LEGO® designers has produced the first ever licences hatchback and its’ not a car for the racing circuit. Probably by now most collectors who acquired this set has already modified and tweaked some improvements that include the details aesthetics of this rally car.

Overall the Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC had more detailed build compared to the classic 1968 Mustang Fastback. The only concern how LEGO® package the sticker sheer separately instead of being packed with the instruction manual in a separate plastic to avoid being folded, which has been a concern for most Speed Champions sets. Though entirely this was one underrated sets that needs some attention being the first Speed Champions set based on an off-road car.

“Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC” from LEGO® Speed Champions set number 75885 is one of the latest sets to be release in 2018, which was acquired during the special holiday sale at Big W in Westfield Marion for $15.00 AU Dollars, which is regularly retailed at $19.00 AU Dollars.
