HW Experimotors | Custom Small Block

Hot Wheels is not associated with Construction Toys, but for those not updated that their parent company is Mattel which now owns Mega Brands (formerly Mega Bloks) since 2014. But Mattel’s Hot Wheels did introduce a die-cast car that has studs in them the year before in the form of the Fig Rig truck.

After so many variations of the die-cast cars that let you put a Mega Bloks figure or a LEGO Minifigure, They finally produced a die-cast car that you can be able to swap parts using studs built-in to the cars’ plastic chassis!

HW Ride-Ons | Boom Car

05.07.2018 – Hot Wheels is not a toyline that is associated with a building toy or construction toy brand, but more of a diecast car brand owned by Mattel. It is until it acquired MEGA Brands that produced Mega Bloks in March 2014 when Mattel finally announced that they’re acquiring the toy brand.

The idea of having a Hot Wheels car being produced with studs parts to have minifigures ride them goes back to 2013 when they introduced the Fig Rig.

HW Ride-Ons | Let's Go

05.01.2018 – Hot Wheels is known for producing diecast cars featuring fantasy and licensed models. The brand has been popular with its fantasy models without the need for licensing unless it is a well-known franchise or iconic pop culture vehicle.

In the last five years, they have produced diecast cars that let you ride a LEGO® Minifigure with the introduction of the Fig Rig. But they didn’t stop there with the next one with Let’s GO, a go-kart type vehicle that’s been around since 2014.

The 2013 premier release was available in Philippine retail and they did a follow-up with a new pair for 2014. There was only one color variant that was available in the country while the other one can be found in some parts of Australia-Asia.

HW Stunt 80 of 250: Fig Rig! [Yellow Edition]

10.23.2015 – If there is one thing that’s quite ironic after LEGO® being named the number one toy brand in the world making another toy brand not officially but compliments its competitor.

It makes you wonder and this even before Mattel fully acquired Mega Brand Inc’s most valuable asset which is the Mega Bloks in 2014, that they built a car for LEGO®’s minifigure and their first was a FIG RIG!

HW Surf Patrol 74 of 250: Pedal Driver!

09.23.2015 – There have been diecast cars that Hot Wheels has recently produced for the LEGO® minifigure to ride on. Though they are not entirely buildable or construction-based toys they have studs and handles bars for them to interact.

You’ve got the Fig Rig and Let’s Go kart that can also have KRE-O figures that can ride too. But before Mattel had acquired the Mega Brands, which is the mother company of Mega Bloks they’re incompatible until the Pedal Driver was released.

HW Race Team 126 of 250: Let's Go!

09.09.2015 – Lately if you haven’t seen Hot Wheels cars built for Minifigures then you must have been missing something. Hot Wheels have already produced three diecast cars dedicated for most construction toy brands like LEGO® and KRE-O.

But not entirely made for Mattel’s recently acquired Mega Brands that produce Mega Bloks sets and micro figures (same scale with LEGO® minifigs). “Let’s Go” is one of the diecast cars produced by Hot Wheels and it’s already on its 4th variant in white!

HW Race 165 of 250: Let's Go!

08.18.2014 – For those who haven’t been reading up the news lately, that Mattel the parent company which owns Barbie and Hot Wheels as wells as iconic licensing rights for Masters of the Universe has acquired the Mega Brands.

The Canadian based company is the parent company, which manufactures the Mega Bloks construction toys. Mattel’s Hot Wheels just recently released the “Let’s Go” kart, which is actually made for their Hot Wheels micro figure.

HW Stunt 80 of 250: Fig Rig!

07.18.2013 – There has been A LOT of competitive brands to choose from and leading the charge is LEGO® the pioneer that started all this construction toys. They have been innovative and ahead of the competition not only in securing licenses of other popular brands but also in marketing it.
